Lyons Community Theater is thrilled to present Laughing Wild, a provocative and darkly comic exploration of the anxieties, contradictions, and pressures of modern urban life.
The play unfolds through two sharply contrasting monologues. The Woman—emotional, raw, and increasingly unstable—recounts a startling incident in a supermarket where frustration pushes her to violence over a simple can of tuna. The Man, meanwhile, delivers a speech on the power of positive thinking, only to spiral repeatedly into doubt, anger, and negativity. As the story unfolds, their worlds collide: he is revealed to be the very man she struck in the supermarket.
The production consists of two 30-minute monologues, followed by a 30-minute second act that blends monologue and scenes between the two characters. Though they remain unnamed, their shared, overlapping dreams bring them together in a final, surreal confrontation.
